Each year, SOF hosts IMO for class 8 too, which allows students to put their math skills to the test by competing against other students. Before delving into the specifics, it is necessary to have a basic understanding of the Olympiad. This tradition of conducting IMO has been going on for a long time now. • Level 1 Exam Eligibility

All students in grades 1 through 12 are eligible to take the Level 1 exam, regardless of their grades. The more loosened eligibility standards help to increase the number of students who participate. Students in grades 1 to 12 who are pursuing schooling in the United States or abroad are eligible to take the IMO Level 1 exam.

  • Level 2 Exam Eligibility

Only students who achieve a minimum performance level in the Level 1 exam are considered for the Level 2 exam. The following students are eligible to take the Level 2 exam:

The top 5% of students in each class will be qualified for the Level 2 exam.

The top 25 zone and class rank holders will also be considered.

Top students from each participating school, where at least 10 students from a class take the exam and score 50% or higher.

The highest rank holder will be qualified for Level 2 in the case of section-wise registration.

It should be emphasised, however, that students in Classes 1 and 2 are not required to take the Level 2 exam. Their performance will be evaluated based on their success on the Level 1 exam.

  • IMO EXAM CLASS 8 RESULT

Within 8 weeks of the examination, the Olympiad results are usually announced. The SOF distributes the results directly to the registered schools, thus students can pick up their results at their particular schools. Students can also access their results at the SOF’s official website. The specific dates for the IMO result announcement are at SOF’s discretion.

Students that take part in the IMO receive a Student Performance Report as well (SPR). It is a full report on the Olympiad performance of pupils. An SPR can assist students in gaining a better understanding of their strengths and shortcomings.

However, it is up to the various departments and the institute’s senate to make the final decision on these students’ admittance.

According to Nitin Saxena, head of IIT Kanpur’s UGARC (undergraduate academic programme review committee), students who qualify for international Olympiads have already demonstrated their ability and do not require a further check in the form of the IIT-JEE exam. “Each year, six Indian students compete in the internationally renowned Olympiads.
